Science and Democracy Foundation welcomes new director at IParl
Dr Danny Schindler will be Director of the Institute for Parliamentarism Research (IParl) in Berlin from March 2023.
Kiel/Berlin, March 2023. The Foundation for Science and Democracy is pleased to announce that Dr Danny Schindler has been Director of the Institute for Parliamentarism Research (IParl) in Berlin since 1 March 2023.
As an institution of the Science and Democracy Foundation (SW&D), the IParl is dedicated to theoretical and empirical research into democratic representation and legitimisation. Dr Danny Schindler has been part of the IParl team as a researcher since the institute was founded in 2016. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the leadership and control options of parliamentary group chairmen in the German Bundestag. He is currently conducting research on the recruitment of candidates for parliamentary elections in Germany (CandiData), on parliamentary group rules of procedure in international comparison (SOPiP) and on parliamentary opposition in African countries. Since March, he has taken over the management of the Institute alongside founding director Prof Dr Suzanne S. Schüttemeyer.
"With Danny Schindler as the new Director of the IParl, the Foundation Board, together with Suzanne Schüttemeyer, has chosen a personality with proven expertise and experience in both the scientific and organisational management of the IParl. In his new position, he will continue to advance the institute and its research in the spirit of the Science and Democracy Foundation and in the tradition of our founder, Prof Dr Eberhard Schütt-Wetschky, with professional and personal composure and prudence," affirms Dr Astrid Kuhn, CEO of SW&D.
