After a phase of reorganisation following the death of the founder in 2015, the foundation has established itself sustainably. With a clear profile in science funding and science communication, SW&D is now recognised both nationally and internationally. From its headquarters in the heart of Kiel, the foundation is involved in Kiel's urban society and contributes its ideas far beyond the region. The aim remains to further expand its work and provide answers to key questions of democratic development through innovative projects and collaborations.

Eberhard Schütt-Wetschky, the founder of SW&D, would have turned 85 on 24 October 2022. This was the perfect occasion to celebrate the foundation's 30th anniversary together with employees, long-time companions and friends of SW&D.
The anniversary year was characterised by the dedicated work of the foundation and its facilities. The seventh volume of the SIRIUS magazine was published during the anniversary year. In addition, during this period 14 IParl research colloquia in Berlin or virtually. These meetings offered academics and people interested in parliamentarism the opportunity to present and discuss their research projects, academic work and practice-oriented projects. Another highlight of the anniversary was the first-ever organisation of the IParl Academy in Berlin. In addition to a comprehensive Conference report on the Academy published the pw-portal a series of articles as part of the anniversary year. Particularly noteworthy are the interviews with:

The crowning glory of the anniversary year was the Festival magazine on the 30th anniversary of SW&D. It offers a moving review of the foundation's successes to date and dares to look ahead to its future projects and challenges.
The Foundation looks back on its 30th anniversary with pride and gratitude and looks forward with confidence to the coming years, in which it will continue to strengthen and promote science and democracy.
In spring 2024, SW&D moved into new offices in the heart of Kiel together with the editorial teams of pw-portal and its magazine SIRIUS. The foundation's headquarters are now located at Wall 40, directly at the boat harbour and opposite the Schwedenkai on the Kiel Fjord.
The SW&D headquarters serves as a lively centre for science, democracy and dialogue. Here, the foundation forges local, regional and international partnerships and brings together academics, political practitioners and politically interested citizens through a wide range of events. With innovative formats and fresh impulses, SW&D strengthens democracy in Kiel and far beyond from its location at Wall 40.
