PD Dr Matthias Lemke teaches at the Akkon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin in the study programmes "Management in hazard prevention" and "Leadership in hazard prevention and disaster control".
He received his doctorate in 2007 as part of a Franco-German doctoral programme at the Sciences Po Paris and at the University of Vechta. During his studies and doctorate, he was a scholarship holder of the Friedrich Ebert FoundationBonn. After working as a teacher for special tasks and as a research assistant in Vechta and at the University of Duisburg-Essen he moved to the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburgwhere he was already responsible for the development and conception of the Journal for Political Theory (ZPTh) in Hamburg. From 2012, Dr Lemke was responsible in Hamburg for the scientific coordination of a BMBF research project in the area Political theory and digital humanities responsible. In 2016, he completed his habilitation at the Helmut Schmidt University and was authorised to teach political science. He then moved to Eugen Ewig Scholarship Holder on German Historical Institute Paris and taught at the Campus de Nancy of Sciences Po Parisand the Federal University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration.
His work focuses on the following areas Political and social sciencesthe Political theory and history of ideas and in the Digital Humanities - especially for the topics Democratic socialism, Economisation techniques, Blended Readingthe State of emergency and the Health emergency as research objects and in the field Fundamental rights and the police.
