Jan Meyer

Jan Meyer has been a scientific advisor for SW&D events since 2024. Previously, he was an editor at the Portal for Political Science since September 2023.

He completed his bachelor's degree in political science in Hamburg and specialised in political theory in his master's degree in Frankfurt. From 2020 to 2023, he was a doctoral scholarship holder in the project "Der Blick nach unten. Social Conflicts in the History of Ideas of Democracy" at TU Darmstadt. There he offered seminars in the field of political theory and the history of ideas as a lecturer and helped to set up the blog demokratiekonflikte.de as an editor. He wrote his dissertation on political institutions in the democratic theories of Alexis de Tocqueville, John Stuart Mill and Max Weber, which was completed in 2024. In addition to the history of political thought, his areas of interest include recent developments in democratic theory as well as electoral and parliamentarism research.
