Since 2020, the German Society for Political Science (DGfP) and SW&D jointly organised the Prize "The political science book". The €2,000 book prize is awarded every two years and is intended to help strengthen political science monographs.
The submitted works are assessed according to their contribution to the advancement of knowledge in political science. The decisive factor here is that the monograph not only addresses one area of political science, but is of broader interest to the discipline. Particular attention is paid to the extent to which the work supports the transfer of political science knowledge into politics and society and thus strengthens the visibility of political science in the public sphere.
The Award The "Das politikwissenschaftliche Buch" award provides an important platform for recognising outstanding academic achievements and promoting discourse between academia, politics and society.
