Since its relaunch in 2022, with Prof Dr Frank Decker as publisher and editor-in-chief Katharina Rahlf in Bonn, SW&D has supported the social science journal INDES. Journal for politics and society as a funding partner.
The aim of the Publisher Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht The aim of the journal is to present research findings in a comprehensible, exciting and interesting way. The choice of topics and sections ensures that the journal contributes to socially relevant and current discourses, broadens the spectrum of public opinion with new perspectives and unconventional alternatives and is recognised as an important organ of debate by both those interested in politics and those who are professionally involved in politics.

Democracy under pressure (1-2/2024)
Issue 1-2/2023 to the title "Democracy under pressure" is dedicated to the challenges facing democratic institutions on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law and the 60th birthday of Prof Dr Frank Decker. The main topics are direct democracy, the party landscape and right-wing populism, supplemented by contributions from Decker's companions and students. For example, the Chairwoman of the SW&D Board, Dr Astrid Kuhn, analyses the role of the Federal Constitutional Court in times of crisis in her contribution "The ghosts it called."
Prison and society (4/2023)
Issue 4/2023 to the title "Prison and society" explores the complex relationship between prisons and society, examining historical, social and cultural aspects of prisons, including their functions, the re-socialisation of prisoners, resistant forms of expression and representation in art and film.
Less (3/2023)
Issue 3/2023 to the title "Less" presents the new "Papers" section for the first time, in which scientific contributions are examined according to a double-blind peer review process in order to set higher scientific standards and to offer young scientists a platform for their work.
Failure (2/2023)
In the issue 2/2023 to the title "Failure" The omnipresent phenomenon of failure in politics, business, science, culture and sport is examined, with the tension between constructive learning processes and the inevitable, often final failure taking centre stage.
Language and politics (1/2023)
Issue 1/2023 to the title "Language and politics" examines the diverse interactions between political communication and language, focussing on historical perspectives, current political debates and linguistic developments.
COVID-19 ff. (3-4/2022)
In issue 3-4/2022 to the title "COVID-19 ff." three years after the first lockdown in Germany, the film looks back and analyses how society is dealing with developments in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and highlights new perspectives.
Turning point (1-2/2022)
Issue 1-2/2022 to the title "Turning point" examines the extent of the changes and the effects of this caesura postulated by Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. It also looks at other social, political and cultural upheavals that are currently concealed by the Ukraine crisis, as well as those of the past
